Critical Diagnosis

Critical Diagnosis is currently only available for Members who have health insurance under their employer.

The employer must first add this cover to their employee health care plan before Members can access it. 

Their health care plan must be a surgical plan including Hospital Select, Major Surgical, MedicalCare, MultiCare, UniCare Advantage, UniCare Plus or UniCare. 

We’ve developed these add-on options with affordability in mind. We’ve tried to keep them cost-effective while offering a good level of cover.   

Critical Diagnosis Cover gives people facing a life-changing illness an immediate, once in a lifetime lump sum payment of either $10,000, $25,000 or $50,000 in the event they receive a life-changing diagnosis from a list of 30 conditions such as:  

• Cancer  

• Organ failure   

• Cardiovascular conditions including heart attack or heart valve surgery.  

• Loss of function or ability to live independently e.g. as a result of stroke, Parkinson’s disease or dementia.  

• Some additional critical diagnoses that don’t fit into the above categories such as Crohn’s Disease or rheumatoid arthritis.
