Members with Health Plans previously issued under the Accuro brand (policy numbers starting with PL) are eligible for certain discounts if appropriate criteria is met. Most of our discounts are applied automatically. However, some require you to provide certain information to us in order for them to be applied. (e.g.: Non-Smoker and Healthy Weight Discounts).
Discounts that have been applied to the sum payable for your policy will be listed on the policy renewal notice, which is provided one month prior to your anniversary.
However, we will give you at least 21 days’ notice in advance of any changes which affect the sum you pay us.
Not all discounts are available on all Health Plans. Please see the discount eligibility table and further information below.
Payment discounts:
Annual payment discount (5%)
Members who pay their premium in full, once a year at their anniversary, may be eligible to receive a discount of 5% on their premium.
Any current or previous Members of a group insurance scheme are not eligible for this discount. This discount also does not apply to the Day to Day product.
Direct Debit discount (2%)
Members who choose to pay their premium by direct debit may be eligible to receive a discount of 2% on their premium.
Any current or previous Members of a group insurance scheme are not eligible for this discount. This discount also does not apply to the Day to Day product.
Other discounts:
Non-smoker discount (10%)
Members who have not smoked or vaped in the past 12 months may be eligible to receive a premium discount of 10% on their Hospital & Surgical and Specialist plans. Only applicable to our adult rates on SmartCare, SmartCare+ and SmartStay products.
Any current or previous Members of a group insurance scheme are not eligible for this discount. Dependants under the age of 25 are also not eligible for this discount. Only available on SmartCare, SmartCare+ and SmartStay Health Plans.
Healthy weight discount (5-15%)
After three years of continuous cover on SmartCare or SmartCare+, Members who have a BMI within the qualifying range may be eligible to receive a 5-15% premium discount to their Hospital & Surgical module.
- 5% after 3 years of continuous cover
- 10% after 6 years of continuous cover
- 15% after 9 years of continuous cover, and every 3 years following
Your Healthy Weight Discount entitlements are assessed every 3 yearly anniversary and confirmation of BMI is required from the Member's GP. For more details, please refer to the Health Plan document.
Any current or previous Members of a group insurance scheme are not eligible for this discount. Dependants under the age of 25 are also not eligible for this discount. Only available on SmartCare or SmartCare+ Health Plans.
Low claims discount (30%)
Members on the Major Medical Plan or Real Value Plan may be eligible to receive a 30% discount if they have claimed less than 70% of the premium value calculated for a three year period. Please note that these are legacy plans and are no longer available to purchase.
Any current or previous Members of a group insurance scheme are not eligible for this discount. Dependants under the age of 25 are also not eligible for this discount. Only available on Major Medical Plan or Real Value Plan.
Free cover for dependants under six months old
Dependants on a policy are eligible to receive free cover from their date of birth until they turn six months old. We will charge the relevant premium once the dependant reaches six months of age. Please refer to your Health Plan document for full details.
This discount does not apply to the Day to Day Health Plan or module. To be eligible, the member must be a dependant of an adult member on the policy.
Third and subsequent children free
All third and subsequent children on a policy may be eligible to receive free cover when they have the same Health Plan as the two children for which premium is paid. Please refer to your Health Plan document for full details.
