Terms and Conditions

UniMed facilitates access to selected Active Benefits and Active Care products and services provided by independent third-party providers (“Providers”). By engaging with, accessing, or redeeming any Active Benefits or Active Care product or service, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
General:
- Active Benefits and Active Care are made available by Union Medical Benefits Society Limited, an Industrial and Provident Society (210021), with its registered office at 165 Gloucester Street, Christchurch 8011, New Zealand (“UniMed”).
- Active Benefits and Active Care products and services are provided by third-party providers, listed on the UniMed website.
- UniMed does not act as an agent for any Provider. Providers are not agents of UniMed.
- By participating in, purchasing or using any Active Benefits or Active Care product or service, you agree to the collection and use of your information by UniMed and/or the relevant Provider for the purposes of administering and providing the product or service, in accordance with these terms and conditions, UniMed’s Privacy Statement – unimed.co.nz/privacy and the Privacy Statement and any consent process of the Provider.
- Some Active Benefits and Active Care products and services may involve medical or clinical advice or products provided by a Provider.
- UniMed does not provide medical or clinical advice through Active Benefits or Active Care. UniMed does not guarantee access to a particular product or service, appointment availability, health outcome, diagnosis, treatment outcome or improvement in health.
- Members are responsible for deciding whether a product or service is suitable for them and should seek advice from their usual health professional where they have questions about their health, treatment, diagnosis, medication, or suitability for a product or service.
- These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Nothing in these terms limits a Member’s rights under applicable consumer protection legislation.
Eligibility and Participation:
- Active Benefits and Active Care are available to eligible UniMed Members only, unless otherwise stated. A Member must meet any membership, policy, or specific eligibility requirements that apply at the time they access or redeem the product or service.
- Eligibility criteria may vary depending on the specific product or service and may include age, residency, policy status, geographic location or other requirements as determined by UniMed or the relevant Provider. Any specific eligibility criteria that applies can be found under the relevant Active Benefits or Active Care product or service listed on our Active Benefits and Active Care webpages.
- Active Benefits and Active Care products or services may be permanent or available for a limited time only. UniMed or the relevant Provider reserve the right to modify, extend, suspend or withdraw any Active Benefits or Active Care products or services at any time without notice.
- Active Benefits and Active Care products and services are subject to availability and may be limited in quantity, time, or geographic location.
- Specific Health Plan terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and eligibility criteria may apply when accessing Active Benefits and Active Care products and services. These terms and conditions do not override or change the cover available under any Health Plan.
Offer Conditions:
- To access or redeem an Active Benefits or Active Care product or service, you may be required to follow specific instructions such as redeeming a code, booking via a partner platform, or presenting proof of UniMed membership.
- Each Active Benefits and Active Care product or service is subject to the individual terms and conditions of the relevant Provider. Members are responsible for reviewing and complying with those terms.
- Active Benefits and Active Care products and services are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash unless explicitly stated.
- Members must remain eligible at the time the product or service is provided. Access may be withdrawn if membership ceases or eligibility requirements are no longer met.
Responsibilities and Liability:
- UniMed acts solely as a facilitator of Active Benefits and Active Care products and services. UniMed is not responsible for the delivery, quality, or performance of products or services provided by any Provider.
- To the extent permitted by law, UniMed, including its employees and agents, shall not be liable for any loss, damage, cost, delay, or injury, including indirect or consequential loss, arising from or in connection with the use of or participation in any Active Benefits or Active Care product or service.
- Any issues, claims, or disputes relating to the products or services provided by a Provider under Active Benefits or Active Care must be raised directly with the relevant Provider.
- If a Member is concerned about UniMed’s role in facilitating access to Active Benefits and Active Care products and services, they can contact UniMed using the contact details on our website.
- Members are responsible for any costs associated with a product or service that are not funded by UniMed.
Technical and Administrative:
- UniMed is not responsible for any technical issues, system errors, outages or failures that may affect access to or redemption of an Active Benefits or Active Care product or service, including issues with a Provider’s systems or platforms.
- UniMed reserves the right to verify Member eligibility and to decline, cancel or suspend access to a product or service if UniMed suspects fraudulent, misleading, abusive or non-compliant behaviour.
Changes to Terms:
- UniMed reserves the right to vary, update, or replace these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Updated terms will be published on UniMed’s website and take effect from the date of publication.
